Privacy policy
What this website collects, why, and what it does not do — written to describe how the rebuilt site actually behaves rather than the previous template.
The short version
This website collects two things: anonymous traffic statistics, and whatever you type into the contact form. It does not take bookings, does not record phone calls, and carries no advertising tags.
What we collect
Traffic statistics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. Right now this site carries only the MKL Hospitality Group’s shared analytics tag, not a tag of its own — see QUERIES.md. Analytics tells us how many people visited a page this week, not who they are. Your IP address is handled by Google and is not stored by us.
We also count clicks to call or open the booking provider, and confirmed successful enquiry submissions. These events include the site name and page path, but no form fields, visitor phone number or query parameters. A booking click does not confirm a completed reservation.
What you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, any phone number you give us, and your message. That reaches the hotel’s inbox and is used to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and no credit card or payment information is collected through this website.
Cookies. This site does not set its own tracking cookies. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to distinguish visits; you can block or remove cookies at any time from your browser’s own settings — check your browser’s help pages for how.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information.
- We do not run advertising or retargeting tags.
- We do not use session recording or heatmap tools.
- We do not ask for payment details on this website. Reservations and payment are handled by our booking provider, or by the hotel directly over the phone.
- We do not monitor or record telephone calls. The previous privacy policy described Google Ads call recording for a click-to-call advertising programme; this site runs no such programme.
Booking
The “Check availability” button takes you to our booking provider’s own site. Your reservation and payment details are handled there, under that provider’s privacy policy, not ours.
Asking us about your data
Write to inquire@driftinsandsmotel.com or call +1 (252) 715-4100 and ask. If you have sent us a message through the contact form and want it deleted, say so and we will delete it.
